Touch 'n Go reloads, Rapid KL service alerts, KTMB rail status and PLUS Highway tolls: a single mobility envelope for Malaysia

Touch 'n Go is the cashless payments rail for transit and tolls across Malaysia; Prasarana Malaysia operates Rapid KL, Rapid Penang and Rapid Kuantan; KTMB runs the intercity and Komuter rail networks; PLUS Malaysia operates the North-South Expressway and most of the federal toll trunk. 4notify integrates with their open data and operator feeds and delivers reload prompts, service-disruption alerts, intercity rail status and PLUS toll reminders on the channel the customer prefers.

Preamble

Whereas, in exercise of the powers conferred by the Road Transport Act 1987 and the Land Public Transport Act 2010 and the policy direction of APAD (Agensi Pengangkutan Awam Darat), this Warta is issued concerning the delivery of mobility notices to the Malaysian commuter.

Statutory basis
Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333)

Framework for road circulation, vehicle registration and federal toll concessions.

Land Public Transport Act 2010 (Act 715)

Federal land public-transport regime; obligations of operators to inform passengers of disruption and schedule changes.

APAD operating directives

Service-level standards for Rapid KL, Rapid Penang and KTMB Komuter; passenger-information duties.

Implementation
01

Open-data + operator subscription

4notify subscribes to open mobility feeds, the Rapid KL service-alert feed and the KTMB status feed; end-to-end latency to the customer is < 90 seconds.

02

Route / station preference

The customer pins a line (e.g. "LRT Kelana Jaya") or a station pair; only disruptions on that route reach their inbox.

03

Toll + Touch 'n Go reminder

Customers with a registered vehicle receive an end-of-day reminder if the TNG eWallet balance is low or unpaid PLUS Highway tolls are detected.

Frequently asked
How fast do disruption alerts arrive?

From the open-data feed to the customer handset, P50 is under 90 seconds; the KTMB feed may be slower due to its upstream cadence.

Can someone subscribe to tolls without owning the vehicle?

Yes — fleets and lessors subscribe by plate; individual customers subscribe with their own plate registration.
