IRCTC railway alerts, Delhi Metro (DMRC) disruption notices, FASTag toll receipts and Vande Bharat schedule updates: an Indian mobility envelope

Indian Railways carries more than 24 million passengers a day; the Delhi Metro (DMRC) handles ~6 million; the NETC FASTag tolls processed over 4.5 billion passes last year; and the Vande Bharat semi-high-speed network is now the schedule premium passengers watch by the minute. 4notify subscribes to the IRCTC, DMRC and NETC FASTag feeds and delivers PNR / waitlist changes, disruption alerts, toll receipts and Vande Bharat schedule updates on the channel the customer prefers.

Preamble

Whereas, by virtue of the powers vested by the Indian Railways Act, 1989 and the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and in furtherance of the NETC scheme operated by NPCI for electronic toll collection, this edict is issued upon the delivery of mobility alerts.

Statutory basis
Indian Railways Act, 1989

Statutory framework for the operation of Indian Railways and passenger reservations.

Motor Vehicles Act, 1988

Tolling and electronic toll collection authority.

NETC (National Electronic Toll Collection) scheme by NPCI

FASTag — the RFID-based interoperable toll system on Indian national highways.

Implementation
01

Open feeds + IRCTC / DMRC subscriptions

4notify subscribes to the open-data mobility feeds and the IRCTC / DMRC alert streams; customer-side latency P50 < 90 seconds.

02

Route / station preference

The customer saves a PNR (e.g. "Vande Bharat 22439") or a station pair; only the disruptions that affect them are sent.

03

FASTag toll receipt + low balance

Customers with a registered FASTag VRN receive an end-of-day receipt; low-balance alerts (< INR 200) are pushed instantly.

Frequently asked questions
How fast do disruption alerts arrive?

From the feed to the customer's phone, P50 is under 90 seconds; the upstream IRCTC / DMRC feed itself can be slower depending on the source.

Can fleets subscribe to FASTag receipts on behalf of drivers?

Yes — fleets and lessors subscribe by VRN; individual drivers by their own registered VRN.
