Tallinja bus network, Gozo Channel ferry and Transport Malta alerts: mobility notices for the islands

Hundreds of thousands of journeys cross the islands every day on the Tallinja bus network operated by Malta Public Transport under the Transport Malta franchise, and the Mġarr–Ċirkewwa ferry of the Gozo Channel Line carries some 4.5 million passenger movements a year. 4notify integrates with the Transport Malta open-data feeds, the Tallinja API and the Gozo Channel timetable and delivers disruption alerts and ferry diversions on the customer's preferred channel.

Articles
01

Open-data plus Tallinja and Gozo Channel feeds

4notify subscribes to the Transport Malta open-data feed, the Tallinja real-time API and the Gozo Channel ferry schedule; customer-side latency below 90 seconds at P50.

02

Route / stop / ferry-leg preference

The customer stores a route (e.g. "X1 to airport"), a stop pair, or a ferry leg (Mġarr–Ċirkewwa); they only receive the disruption notices that touch their commute.

03

Traffic-incident push

Major incidents reported by Transport Malta traffic operations are pushed within 90 seconds, with an alternative-route suggestion drawn from the open-data feed (e.g. Mrieħel bypass closure → Birkirkara diversion).

The 4notify Difference

4notify is the only A2P provider that unifies the Transport Malta open-data feed, the Tallinja network and the Gozo Channel ferry into a single envelope, with per-customer route / stop / ferry-leg preference.

Frequently asked questions
How fast are disruption alerts?

From the upstream feed to the customer device, P50 is under 90 seconds for road incidents; the Gozo Channel feed can be slower because of the operator's own publication cadence.

Can drivers subscribe to traffic alerts without using public transport?

Yes — the Transport Malta traffic-operations feed is independent of the Tallinja subscription; a driver can take traffic alerts only.
