Revenue ROS, Peppol e-invoicing and VAT: delivery and validation notices for Irish business

The Revenue Commissioners operate the Revenue Online Service (ROS) for filing VAT, PAYE and corporation tax. Ireland is moving towards Peppol-based e-invoicing in line with the EU VAT in the Digital Age (ViDA) package. 4notify integrates with Irish accounting software (Sage, Xero, BrightPay, Surf Accounts) and delivers receipt acknowledgements, validation status reports and filing reminders.

Statutory Basis
Value-Added Tax Consolidation Act 2010

EU VAT in the Digital Age (ViDA) / Peppol

Forthcoming e-invoicing and digital reporting framework; Peppol BIS as the interoperability standard.

4notify subscribes to the e-invoice and filing queue in the accounting package; validation runs before submission to ROS.

02

Receipt acknowledgement + validation report

Acknowledgement to the sender within 60 seconds; validation status (accepted / qualified / rejected) five minutes later.

03

Delivery to the correct agent

Acknowledgements are routed to the relevant tax agent or accountant by VAT registration number.

04

Six-year retention (VATCA 2010)

Every invoice and acknowledgement is retained with a hash signature for six years — aligned with Revenue record-keeping requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does 4notify need a ROS digital certificate?

No. 4notify works from delivery envelopes produced by the accounting software; the ROS connection and digital certificate stay with the filer or tax agent.

Is Peppol e-invoicing mandatory in Ireland yet?

Mandatory B2B e-invoicing is phasing in under the EU ViDA package; B2G already uses Peppol. 4notify handles Peppol BIS envelopes today so you are ready as obligations take effect.
